We are Common People, a community for anybody in the creative industries with experience of being from a Working Class background.

From music to fashion, advertising to design, Britain’s position as a global cultural powerhouse is built on the creativity of Working Class people. Yet due to a combination of social bias, government cuts and unequal access to education, the creative industries are becoming a playground for a privileged few.

Only 16% of people full time in full time creative roles are from a Working Class background, according to a recent report. The sector, which projects an image of tolerance and inclusivity, is actually less diverse than academia, law and finance.

If you want to see that change, you’re in the right place.

We are Common People and we are proudly different class.

Tell yer mates.
